Located within the Kansas City masterplan between an eco-boulevard and a park is a proposal for an ecological community center that also attempts to blur the line between nature and the built world. It accomplishes this by embedding itself in with the topography and integrating itself with the native vegetation. The interior circulation consists of a series of ramps that mimics the sloped topography of the site and winds through community spaces that teach about the region’s native peoples, plants, and wildlife. The project also features an outdoor stairway, an accessible roof, courtyards, lightwells, an auditorium, an exhibition space, and classrooms.
